THE BUCKARASTANO

The mysterious Buckarastano (also referred to as the B*ckarastano or the B**********o) has been referred to as the “god particle” of quantum linguistics, but the DMRI is working on the assumption that it is an object (either a physical object or an abstract object of study) that exists at the end of time. Its existence is so earth-shattering that it is sending shock waves back through history which are felt by us as echoes (each one is a buckarastano, echoing the Buckarastano). As we travel along the arrow of time and get closer to the discovery of this transcendental object, the reverberations become stronger.
It can also be thought of as a hypotext (Text A) which exists in the future and is evoking (or prevoking) in the present a series of hypertexts (Text Z, Text Y, Text X, etc.) which slowly bring it into being. The idea is that as the texts become increasingly evocative of the Buckarastano, they will lead to Text B, which will be the text preceding the birth of its progenitor. The Author is dead, but the text continues writing itself, eventually becoming self-aware and able to act as its own author. Since the discovery of a buckarastano is always followed by some kind of crack in reality, we can assume that it is like an artefact from beyond the linguistic simulation. It is the key that unlocks the roman à clef we are trapped in. If you make the Unthinkable visible to yourself by representing it as a blank, you can move closer to being able to express the nature of your imprisonment and force your masters to show their true colours. The authorities are desperate to explain away dark, monolithic structures like Stonehenge because they know that a blank slate can function as a mirror in which the reader can become a seer and scry what has been kept hidden from them... |
